May always means crabapple blossoms. Unfortunately, their show wasn't very spectacular this year. Our weather has been so cool that they took their time opening up and then only lasted a couple of days. Our forecast for the last days of May is hot, so I think we will finally have some summer-like weather. As is often the case, May has been a busy month. I did manage to read seven books though. Here's the breakdown:
Non-fiction: 1
Mystery: 2
Classic: 2
Christian Fiction: 2
The links will take you to my reviews.

I hope May has been a good reading month for you!

The crab apple trees look pretty. We have one as well but it is in a rather shady place on the side of the house and I don't get to enjoy it all that that much when it blooms. Conrats on a diverse reading month.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane! I am thankful our crab apple trees are in our front yard so that we can enjoy them while they bloom.
Delete“I Capture the Castle” is a very strange classic — so many people do love it. I enjoyed it when it was a book club selection a few years ago. And Jane Austen… no one like her ever!

I Capture the Castle is definitely different. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
DeleteThe trees are lovely. You had a busy reading month. Have a great weekend. Katies Cottage Books
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy!
DeleteI'm almost caught up on the Gaslight series. Finally. And by almost, I mean I just finished book 21 of 25 last week.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a good series, but it will be a while before I am caught up. I am glad to hear the books remain strong.
DeleteI have the Dodie Smith book but it still hasn't come off the shelf. Need to add it to next month's to-read books. Beautiful tree.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to read and enjoy I Capture the Castle.
DeleteYou have had a great reading month. I Capture the Castle and Emma are both books that I enjoyed, and Sweet Life and the Agatha Christie mystery and the Madeleine L'Engle book all sound like good reads. I've never read an Agatha Christie book; I've been waiting to read the quintessential Agatha Christie book but I'm not sure what it is.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what the quintessential Agatha Christie would be. I guess it would depend on who you ask. Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile are some of the best I have read. But there is also And Then There Were None, which is classic.
DeleteBeautiful crabapple tree! My grandma had a huge crabapple tree in her front yard in Indiana. My grandpa made a swing for us grandkids out of a board and some rope. Now the house, tree, and grandparents are long gone, but the pictures and memories remain.
ReplyDeleteI had a tree swing when I was a kid too! Those are some great memories.
DeleteYou had a very nice variety of books this month. That is always a plus. I think I will throw out I Capture the Castle as a recommendation to my book club. It is a group decision, but I think we might enjoy it. (lghiggins)
ReplyDeleteI think I Capture the Castle would make an interesting book club read.
DeleteMay was a good reading month for you. I hope June is another good month.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Yvonne!
DeleteYou had a good reading month. We have the pink trees out here too! Many things blossoming here now. Happy spring.
ReplyDeleteI love all the spring flowers. Have a good week!
DeleteYour tree is beautiful!! And I loved I Capture the Castle. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun to hear from people that loved I Capture the Castle!
DeleteBeautiful crabapple blossoms! You've had a busy reading month - lots of great books in the stack. The Agatha Christie is one of the few that I don't think I've read. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from FYFA wrap-up.
The Blue Train Mystery was a good one! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteNice variety! I loved that one by Agatha Christie
ReplyDeleteThanks, Emma! I enjoyed that Agatha Christie too.
DeleteWow, those crabapples are stunning! And that sounds like a good reading month too. I was particularly interested in The Summer of the Great-Grandmother, which sounds sad from the premise, but I can see from your review that it also contains a lot of beauty and happiness. And I find it interesting how she calls her "The Great-Grandmother" instead of "my mother". Hope you have a good reading month in June!
ReplyDeleteAndrew - The Summer of the Great-Grandmother was one of my favorites this month. I really like Madeleine L'Engle's writing. There are still two more volumes in her memoirs that I haven't read, so I am looking forward to those. It is interesting how she calls her "The Great-Grandmother". Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteYour crabapple trees are very pretty! We had two by my last house and I always loved them in the spring. Hope you have a good June!

Thanks, Lisa! Hope your June is great!
DeleteI Capture the Castle and Emma are both books I want to read, one day! May June be a good reading month for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathryn! You are in for some great reading with Emma and I Capture the Castle.
DeleteThe trees are so pretty! I've had I Capture the Castle on my shelf for years. I really need to pick it up! Happy reading in June!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dedra! I was the same with with I Capture the Castle. I kept putting it off, but it was worth the wait.
DeleteThe crabapple blossoms are pretty. Those are great books you read.
ReplyDeleteHave a great June reading month.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great June!
